Wave goodbye to your Death Valley Lodging and transfer to Sequoia National Park • Head West toward Lone Pine until you are able to see Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 • From there you will drive south on HWY 395 along the East side of Sequoia National Park, getting a brief glimpse of the giant forest ahead.
Follow the Kern River to Lake Isabella and get the chance to view Mountain Mesa for plenty of photo opportunities • This scenic bi-way is well worth the extra few minutes. Stop in the town of Bakersfield or Visalia for last-minute supplies or dinner before heading via HWY 198 through the South entrance of Sequoia National Park to your accommodation for the night.
Spend this morning wandering around the giant Sequoias such as General Sherman Tree which is estimated at over 2,500 years old and learn about the unique ecosystem of these masterpieces • Learn about John Muir and the other forefathers of these parks as their passion for conservation continues to live on to this day.
Drive through Sequoia’s Tunnel Log on your way to Moro Rock • Arriving at the top of these 400 steps will give you an amazing view of the park including the Great Western Divide. Be sure to take it in.
As you make the drive from Sequoia to Yosemite, stop by the Kings Canyon Panoramic Point for a stunning view over the canyon, named after the deep gorge which the Kings River run • Stop by Grant’s Grove to walk through and take in one of the largest Sequoia Trees in the world, the General Grant Tree named after our 18th president Ulysses S. Grant. Head through the famous Yosemite Tunnel through the south entrance to Yosemite National Park. This is also where President Teddy Roosevelt stood in 1903 to declare this valley a national park.
Explore inside the Yosemite Museum or the Ansel Adams Gallery • Learn and celebrate the early pioneers of the Yosemite Valley and see the park through their eyes • Biking and Horseback Riding are options for those who want a different mode of exploring the valley • Stay this night and take advantage of being miles away from the nearest city as you search the night sky and its infinite stars.
If one day in Yosemite doesn’t seem like enough, spend the morning experiencing those activities you weren’t able to fit in the day prior.
Travel a little over 3 hours West on HWY 120 which is one of the more scenic routes to San Francisco • You will make your way through the beautiful Californian Countryside passing through Buck Meadows, which was originally a stage coach stop in the 1870’s for weary travelers venturing out west • You will then pass over the James Roberts Memorial Bridge, and end your journey in the populous San Fransisco by driving over the Oakland Bay Bridge.
Start the day by driving over the famed 4,200 foot Golden Gate Bridge that spans the San Fransisco Bay on your way to the Muir Woods National Monument named after John Muir • Be delivered by your guide and stretch your legs as you'll be awaited on the other side of the bridge • Hit the highlights: famous trolley car as you traverse up and down the iconic San Fransisco hills. Drive down the 'most crooked street' in the world: Lombard Street. Walk around famed Fisherman's Wharf and try some clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl for lunch. Take the ferry 1.25 miles offshore to experience a half-day tour of Alcatraz Island, the home to Al Capone and other notorious criminals from 1934 to 1963.
Unwind and relax while your guide transfers you from your San Francisco accommodation to the San Francisco International Airport for your return flight home.
